Osmoreceptors in the hypothalamus regulate the amount of ADH released in response to changes in the osmotic pressure of plasma. Other factors that promote the release of ADH include exercise, angiotensin II, and emotional states such as pain.ĪDH release is inhibited by atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), which is released by stretched atria in response to increases in blood pressure, as well as alcohol and certain medications. The two most influential factors are changes in plasma osmotic pressure, and volume status.
The release of ADH is controlled by several factors.
